I'm officially 37 weeks today, early full-term! Praise be to God that Parker has made it this far, growing strong and healthy, we are so very thankful. We have been doing weekly bio-physical profiles (BPP) since 31 weeks to make sure everything is progressing as it should and that he looks healthy in these last weeks of pregnancy. We've had some hiccups along the way, but we are so grateful for the amazing doctors at Maternal Fetal Medicine and at my OB who have been monitoring us so carefully and closely along the way. At our BPP yesterday, P was sticking out his tongue at us, it was the cutest little thing. (He's always got his hands up by his face when we look at him on the ultrasound, so I feel like the one time he took them down he decided to stick out his tongue, haha!) I've been getting some more contractions and feel like he could decide to come any day now. We are so excited to meet him. Thank you so much to Pink Blush for sending me this amazing robe - I can't wait to wear it in the hospital, I've got it all packed in our bags. I love that it's blue for our little baby boy. They also sent me the cutest nursing cover up (love the stripes), that I am sure I'll get a ton of use out of when I'm out and about with P soon. (See below for Giveaway details.)
Our nursery is almost finished, hooray! I had originally bought a neutral colored glider to go in the nursery, but traded it out for a solid white one (I just felt like the contrast of white against the gray was a lot prettier), and hope I don't regret that decision from a practicality standpoint. However, my mom gave our dining room chairs that are the exact same fabric a little test over the holidays - and spilled a glass of red wine on them and it all beaded up and didn't soak in, so I am holding out hope that the white glider will not only look cute but not end up getting trashed too. :) I am going to be shooting the nursery this March as part of a collaboration I am working on and can't wait to reveal all the details.

I have no idea when this little guy will be joining us so I thought I'd share another update today since we are about 36,5 weeks and this little one has been keeping us on our toes for a little while now. I don't think that I have shared this on Instagram but just about two weeks prior to Christmas we had a pretty turbulent week, and ultimately I ended up going on leave at work to reduce stress and allow me to be home and take it easy so this little one could stay put. Parker showed some signs that he wanted to come early, toward the end of my 31st week, and early into my 32nd week. Due to my labs, ultrasounds, the cervical exam and the amount of contractions I was having they decided to give me the ante-natal steroid drugs to mature his lungs, because that is one of the primary concerns if you deliver early. Luckily, I think the laying low has really helped, and this guy is still growing, and we are almost to (early) full-term. I am so grateful he's still in my ever-growing tummy, growing and maturing, praise God! I had a lot of anxiety that 32nd week and thought for sure we'd have our little guy in 2016. So glad he decided to hold out.
My bump feels like it's getting bigger by the day - especially this past week. Whenever I catch a glimpse of my bump in the mirror mirror, I just look at my belly in awe. In awe of our sweet little boy that's growing inside me and the miraculous things that the female body does during pregnancy. This whole process is just simply amazing. I am so grateful to God for giving us this blessing, I cannot wait to meet him. I feel like it could be any day now, so each day feels a little like I'm living on the edge, but he'll be here before we know it.
I went through an envelope where I've been saving everything and I have the very first pictures of him as a little embryo, before he was transferred into me, and every single ultrasound that we have had along the way (there's a lot since this pregnancy has called for lots of extra monitoring). I even saved my hand-written notes that I scribbled down when the embryologist called with our update, and the sheet that contained our confirmation of pregnancy....and who knows when I'll ever dispose of all of the shots and syringes. It's weird, but I feel attached to them after this journey we've been on. It was emotional going through all of those yesterday, thinking I get to put them in his little baby book, and the fact that this season of our lives is quickly going to change into becoming parents, something we longed for for so long. I am so excited, and so excited to see Todd become a dad too. He's going to be so great at it.
Thank you so much to everyone who gave me tips/advice on what to pack in my hospital bag. I've made sure to include lots of comfy jammies, robes and slippers, as well as toiletries, our own pillows and towels...and snacks! I didn't even think to pack snacks. I plan to do a future blog post on what I used, what I wish I had packed, and what to leave at home after my experience, so stay tuned. :)
I also want to say thank you to everyone who has been reading my blog, to those who have supported my husband and I along this emotional journey, and those who have reached out via email or through social media. It means so much to us, thank you!
2016 was a year that was filled with ups and downs, but most of all we are so grateful we have been blessed with our little boy on the way. We are so excited to welcome our sweet little Parker in 2017 and the new journey that we will be on this year as we become parents and a family of three!
No Resoultions, Goals
In the past, I've made resolutions that usually involved losing weight, eating healthier and working out more. While those are all great and I typically go through phases of doing these things throughout the year, I thought I'd start off 2017 by setting goals instead making resolutions. And, by sharing them on my blog it will help me stay accountable! The biggest goal that I have is to be a great mama to our little guy and a supportive and loving wife to my husband, and the goals that I've set below will hopefully help me accomplish that.
1. Learning How to Cook
My husband and I love to eat out, but when our little one arrives, I have a feeling eating out won't be as easy, and I'd really love to be able to prepare healthy, delicious meals for my family. I know a couple of recipes, but this year I would love to really learn how to cook a variety of recipes and to find meals that are healthy AND that we enjoy (that seems to be our biggest problem, they are usually one or the other). I got a new saute pan for Christmas and have a gourmet kitchen, and with pinterest and lots of cook books, I really have no excuse not to accomplish this one! If you guys have any amazing recipes, please share them with me - would love any and all ideas! I think eating in will also help us eat healthier since I'll have control about what goes into the meals we eat at home. Wish me luck. :)
2. Date Nights
After Parker arrives, I really want to try and carve out one day a week where my husband and I go on a date night to spend time with one another. While our last 4.5 years together has given us a lot of opportunity to "adult" - travel and go on dates, I don't want the fact that we have a little one at home to make the romance go away. I think it's important for us to spend one night a week doing something fun together, just the two of us, to keep the spark between us alive and well. Ultimately, I think this will help us be better parents to little P, too. Hopefully our families will be up for some babysitting!
3. Self Care
I really enjoy little indulgences like manicures, pedicures, blowouts, etc, and I want to make sure that even though I am going to become a mama this year, that I still keep up with self care and my overall health and well-being. (If you know me well, you probably know that I despise washing my hair, haha. It takes so long to blowdry it and it is just a pain. Hence the ponytails and hats many days.) I want to make sure that even though I will have a little one at home that I am still doing the things that I love to take care of me and not "letting myself go" so to speak. It doesn't mean I need to get dressed up to the 9's even day by any means (I love Lululemon workout clothes), but its important that I nourish my body with balanced nutrition, get back on the tennis court because I love it and the social aspects, and keep up with some of my favorite little self-care indulgences so I can feel great and be a great mama to my little guy, too. I don't think I'd feel great about myself if I stopped doing all of these things, so I am going to make a consious effort to incorporate them into our routine.
Hopefully these goals will help us establish good, healthy habits as we adjust to being parents and a family of three! I absolutely can't wait. One month to go little guy. <3
