I've started putting some thought into some gift ideas for Parker and thought I'd share them here, in case anyone is interested or is looking for gift ideas for their little. It may be more appropriate to call this mommy's wish list for Parker.... :)
I am trying to be mindful about not collecting a bunch of toys and "things" that will just sit on a shelf. So this list was made with functionality and need in mind, versus a lot of toys. I actually haven't even bought P many new toys at all, almost everything we use is hand me downs from his cousins, or he uses my kitchen utensils and bottles of water. He just loves the simple stuff. :)

I'm so happy to finally share this post! I have been planning this post about this since, literally, last year at this time. But then the holidays came, P arrived and then I just never got around to it, so I'm glad I finally am! I love a nice, simple clean shelf, but have never figured out how to achieve that pretty look without spending a ton of money on new stuff, which isn't really needed. So I decided to use some great hacks in our master built ins and share them in case anyone else is wanting to do some DIY shelf styling. 1. COVER YOUR BOOKS LIKE YOU DID IN SCHOOL I was strolling through Restoration Hardware at the Galleria doing some holiday shopping last year when it donned on me that they don't have perfect, neutral colored books making their shelves look pretty - they've just covered hard covered books (many with cool bindings) like I did way back in grade school - when you had to cover your books with paper grocery bags - except they did theirs in a linen fabric. So I hopped back in my car and drove straight over to Joann Fabrics and bought some belgian linen. I came home to my husband's big book supply (that is still in boxes from our remodel) and stripped off the covers and started covering some books. You can see those on the bottom shelf. (Tip: The white linen can be sheer and not cover all of the wording on the binding if it's brightly covered.) 2. STRIP THE BOOK Then, this past weekend we were at Galleria again, and in Arhaus (such a pretty store!), I saw another great hack - just rip off the covers and bindings of the books for a super cool, aged bookshelf look. I really liked this one, because we have so many books, and I hated the way they looked on our shelves. So, this was a great way to make them useful and achieve the look I was going for - although I'm sure my husband may think otherwise. :) Those are on the middle shelf to the right. 3. FACE THE BINDING BACKWARD If that sounds like too much work, you can always face your books backwards too, so just the binding is showing like on the left side of the middle shelf below. MY INSPIRATION
I am absolutely loving Target right now. Their new brand, A New Day is super cute and trendy, and best of all affordable. Both of the gray sweaters I am wearing below are from that line, as well as the white furry one, that is my new favorite! Parker is also wearing Cat & Jack items that I've linked below, too. :) Thought I'd share since they were all around $30 or less and super cute! A few items in these pictures are not from Target, but I've linked them anyway just in case anyone is interested. :)
Gray Sweater - Seriously sooo soft and cozy!

I am so excited to share some of my favorite Pottery Barn picks with you guys for the sale going on this weekend. They have lots of sales throughout this season, too, so be sure to check out their site for sales leading up to Christmas.
With the code SAVEMORE, you can save anywhere from 15-30% off depending on how much you spend. Starting with the bunny lamp, moving clockwise... GOLD BUNNY LAMP This bunny lamp is almost an exact replica of the one that P has in his nursery, but it's a fraction of the cost! It sells out all the time, but is back on stock and on sale on top of this sale going on. BEADED FLUSHMOUNT I am obsessed with beaded lighting right now, and I really would like to find a home for this flushmount in our house - either in Parker's nursery or my closet. I love it. The only bummer is that it doesn't ship 'til January, FYI. PLAY GYM P has this play gym and still loves it! I love the monochrome color scheme with pops of gold. RUG I thought this would be a perfect rug for a neutral nursery. PLAY FOOD You had me a donuts. SHOPPING CART Perfect for the little walker, or little one learning to walk. PLAY KITCHEN Okay, I am in LOVE with this kitchen and it matches mommy's. Enough said! :) SOFT RUG Parker loves to roll around on this rug in his room - it's so soft and cozy! TEEPEE A fun and cute play toy for the littles. Who didn't love forts when they were growing up? So fun! PEACE SIGN Love this for table or shelf styling. Gold is my jam! Happy Friday & Happy shopping!! ![]()
After Halloween turned out to be a little bit of a bust in our house (I hardly decorated and bought P's pumpkin the day of Halloween haha), I decided that I am going to start planning super early for Christmas. It's my absolute favorite. I love decorating the house and cannot wait to start some new family traditions now that Parker is here. I want to make his first Christmas special and wanted to share some of the things I plan to buy for Parker to enjoy the Christmas season. I'm sharing these early because they are all things to enjoy during the anticipation of celebration of our savior. (Note: Anything in gold type below is clickable.)
1. Elf on the Shelf I have always wanted to buy one of these, but my husband wanted me to wait until we had kids, so I finally get to buy one! Now to think of names for our elf... :) 2. Baby Handprint Ornament Make an ornament commemorating their first Christmas. Plus this is a fun activity to do with your little one. I saw someone recommend this clay. 3 & 4 Plaid Christmas Outfit I love preppy little boys clothes. I saw this plaid romper and fell in love. I bought this peter pan collar onesie to go under it and can't wait to dress Parker in it. He'll probably wear it in our Christmas pictures, too. And how cute are the pants with suspenders? Love! 5 & 11 Parker's Christmas Tree I want to get Parker a Christmas tree for his nursery so badly! I am debating between this traditional style, or the birch tree style in #11 - because it would go perfectly in his little nursery. 6. Snowflake Garland I am thinking I am going to do a white or neutral Christmas color scheme this year, and think these would be really cute to decorate with, or put on Parker's windows. 7. Handprint & Footprint Ornaments A fun activity to do with your little one made with some basic arts and crafts materials that you can hang on the tree. 8. The Christmas Baby Book I have been searching for good Christian books for Christmas (that are focused on Jesus and the Christmas story) and this looked like a cute one. I would love additional recommendations if you have them! 9 & 10 Christmas Jammies Ok, matching Christmas jammies are making me soooo giddy right now! I've been waiting to do this for so long and we finally get to do this for Parker's first Christmas this year. My husband is slightly mortified because I told him I'd like to wear these for our Christmas card, haha. I bought this print for the family, including Lexie! I also love these. 12. Nativity Set When we were eating at brunch last weekend with Todd's parents, we were talking about Christmas and how my husband grew up with a nativity set in his room. So, naturally I wanted to do this for P too! I found one that will work for his age because the pieces aren't too small and he can put them in his mouth (he sucks or chews on everything right now). I love this idea and will carry this tradition on. So there's my list of Christmastime faves for the season! I have a lot of fun posts coming up for this season and can't wait to share them with you. I would also love to know of your Christmastime favorites for littles, since this is our first year with P. I'm sure there are a lot of things I'm missing. Thanks for reading! SHOP THE POST ![]() |
