Todd proposed to me on the the 4th of July in 2014. We wanted a fall wedding, but didn't want to wait for almost a year and half to get married, so we decided to get married that fall, so I planned the entire wedding in 3 months. Not to mention I was also working full time and in business school part time at night, what was I thinking? Haha. We pulled it off though! We got married on October 11, 2014, and it was the most beautiful day here in Minnesota. It was almost 70 degrees and the leaves were at their peak. Because we planned our wedding in such little time, almost all of the classical venues were already booked in the fall, so we actually got married in a cemetery. I know it sounds a bit strange, but I really wanted to get married in a place that no one else I knew was married, and Todd threw out the idea. So we went to tour the sanctuary (which is right at the front of the beautiful property, so you aren't into all the gave stones).... and I was sold. It looks like an old European church with all mosaic tiles inside, it's so beautiful. It hardly needed any decoration, because it was already filled with so much intricate detail. We had our reception at my in laws home following the ceremony. I chose ivory, blush and gold as my colors and would do the same if I had to plan it again today. I actually was just cleaning out my wedding box filled with all of my inspiration pictures the other day and fell in love with all of those photos again. My favorite detail has to be the mini pumpkins I spray painted gold. It took a ton of time to spray paint 175 pumpkins! I wanted to incorporate hints of fall into our wedding without compromising our color scheme, and that was the perfect way to do it. We also greeted guests to our reception at my in laws home with warm apple cider and champagne. Below are some of my favorite details from our big day. <3 I chose these William Arthur invites - I loved the oversized size of these (I did the royal size), and they were super thick. like you could throw them like a frisbee. And you can't see it very well in this picture, but the inside of the envelope had gold foil polka dots that I loved! I think an invite says so much about an event, so this is where I chose to spend a little more. My dress: Reem Acra Olivia gown - This was pretty much the only dress I tried on. I saw Olivia Wilde wear it on the red carpet and knew this was the dress from the minute I saw it. Bridesmaids Dresses - I liked that they could all wear them a different style that worked for their own body type. Peep Toe Heels - I love how this rhinestone detail matched the sleeves of my gown. An aerial view of our wedding reception just happened to be captured by Google images and a friend sent it to us later. :)

This year, I am super into neutral decor - think white mums, white pumpkins, with gold accents. I've seen so many pretty inspiration pictures, I thought I would share them here. At the bottom, I've also shared how I decorated our home last year... because I still haven't really put much up around the house (yet). Hopefully soon! INSPIRATION... I think I got it from my mom - she always had cute seasonal decorations up around the house growing up. :)
But because I haven't had time to decorate yet, I thought I'd share how I decorated last year. Hopefully I can share this year's decorations soon! MY HOME (in 2016).... |
