Ever since I purchased IKEA's Laat table about 2 years ago, I have been wanting to give it a makeover, but was having a hard time deciding on what to do. My kids did their own hack job to it with lots of crayons in the meantime, haha. When I was picking out Walt's crib I fell in love with a Serena & Lily crib that is white with caning detail on the ends, and the other day when I was nursing baby Walker I thought to myself, I should do that to the kids' table! But after thinking more about it - I decided to add contact paper that looked like real cane instead because I thought the boys would have a hard time coloring on the table or would think it was uncomfortable (and it would be hard to clean).
I ordered this cane contact paper and used these spray paints (white then sealed it with clear). I did things a little backwards because I wanted to see how the cane contact paper looked with the natural pine finish that the table comes in, but I didn't love it, so then I had to tape everything off and spray it. I'd recommend doing that process in reverse. :) I love the way it turned out and I actually ordered a baby blue umbrella for it so the kids can use it outside, and will share more pictures once I have it all set up. This project was super easy and super affordable!

I love every holiday and love to dress the boys up for them, too. I put the boys in their 4th of July outfits for Flag day yesterday. I can't help myself when it comes to dressing the boys in rompers and bubbles. There's nothing cuter in my opinion. :)
Those little girl swimsuits are so darling and I also love those navy gingham melamine plates that are perfect for outdoor picnics! You can shop all of these items by clicking on the links below. ![]() |
