Bedding - Duvet, Sheets, Pillowcases | HALO Bassinest, HALO Bassinest in this print | HALO Sleep Sack Swaddle | Embroidered HALO Sleep Sack Swaddle  | Robe |
Bed & Nightstands are from Restoration Hardware
As we were planning for Parker's arrival, I think the HALO Bassinest was one of the baby products that I was most excited about. Not only did I like the product and hear amazing things about it, but the story behind HALO really impacted me. The founders lost their first baby to SIDS, and as a result of that, they set out to make sleep as safe as possible for babies through their innovative sleep products.

To be completely transparent, I was really bummed because we tried putting Parker in the Bassinest when we got home from the hospital and it was just so big for him (he was hardly 5 pounds when we got home) and he didn't love sleeping flat on his back, so I figured it just wasn't going to work out for us after a few unsuccessful attempts. I was so bummed he didn't love it at first, but then around 7 weeks, when he was a bit bigger, I tried him in it again, using the Newborn Cuddle Insert (to make it feel more snug) and he slept so well in it! It was literally the best night of sleep we had had in a week or so because he was just coming out of his "fussy phase" that hits between 6-8 weeks when sleep can get tough. These nights of amazing sleep continued, and now here we are at 3 months, and other than the occasional bad night, he sleeps for a 6-8 hour stretch every night in it. I'm so glad that he's finally taken to the Bassinest and sleeps so well in it, because his mama loves it too.

What drew me to this bassinet was that it basically acts like an extension of your bed. We have a really tall bed and I was able to make it level to where I sleep. Parker sleeps right next to me, but in his own separate sleep space, which makes that middle of the night feeding so easy because I can just reach right next to me, quickly and easily scoop him up (the front wall bends down so you can easily place them in/out of the bassinet), and start feeding him (usually) before my husband wakes up. It's made our nighttime routine so much easier  because I don't even have to get out of bed, which is great because I'm basically a zombie at that hour. We also swaddle him nice and snug in his HALO SleepSack Swaddle (I love this one from Pottery Barn because they offer embroidery, and I absolutely love personalized products). He's loved sleeping in those from the day he was able to wear one in the NICU.  Without it he always jerks himself awake.

I know that every baby is so different and different things work for different babies, but for us the HALO sleep products have been a total game-changer.  I've loved our Bassinest and the SleepSack Swaddles and can't imagine how different bedtime would be without them.

Thanks for reading! I'd love to hear about any of your favorite bedtime products, too.

Simple Spring Planters...

4/12/2017

I love having our urns/planters outside of our house filled with oversized lush flowers or spruce tips, depending on the season, so I hate it when spring rolls around and the spruce tips are dead - brittle and brown - and it's still too early for my summer blooms - because in MN you never know when it'll snow again! So, I made these super cheap, simple planters. I reused the birch tree branches that came in my winter planters, added pussy willow stems and some faux flower stems (you could also do them without - see pictures below) and viola, I have some temporary spring planters to make the outside of the house look pretty for the meantime!

Spring Decor Under $50...

4/4/2017

I recently picked up some fun home decor for under $50 and wanted to share it on my blog, because it's such a good deal and such cute stuff!

I love that cactus are cool right now, even if you live outside of the SW states. I was so excited to see this cactus when I was shopping at my favorite store, but couldn't decide where it would fit in our home. Finally, I decided to buy it and I'm so glad that I did, love the pop of color that it adds to the house.

I love this gold jack shelf/office decor. It's not on Target.com, but you can find it in stores.

This gold mirror is my favorite! I wish I could hang it in like every room in my house. :)

If you can't already tell, I love gold everything. So when I saw this gold pineapple candle, I couldn't pass it up...it smells so good too!

These items are not under $50 - but are featured in this photo:
Tea Pot | Ramekins | Tea Cups | Cutting Board | Pizza & Bread Peel | Utensil Crock

The finishes in our home are all antique brass, so when I saw this paper towel holder in antique brass for under $10, it was a done deal. I love that it matches the rest of the kitchen. I also picked up this small succulent plant that adds some color to the kitchen for spring.

Love this marble soap dish to put our hand soap on so it doesn't get our marble counters all messy.

Thanks for reading and happy spring!
